Lego BrickHeadz Ghostbusters Peter Venkman & Slimer Review

This week saw the release of the Lego BrickHeadz: Ghostbusters Peter Venkman & Slimer (41622) set. The kind folks at Lego sent me a copy, so let's take a look at it...
Open the box and you'll find this.

There are 228 pieces with which to build the Peter Venkman and Slimer figures, which are #62 and #63, respectively, in the BrickHeadz line. All of the Peter pieces are in bag #1, and all of the Slimer pieces are in bag #2. Each has a separate instruction manual, which makes it easy for Lego to sell these separately in the future if they want. Right not, they're both only available in this set. The Peter manual is 39 pages long, with 43 building steps; while Slimer has 33 pages, with 32 steps. This all sounds like a lot, but I found them both easy and quick to build.

Each figure comes with its own buildable 1" square baseplate, and are approx. 3.25" tall. The image of the figures on the front of the box is only slightly larger than actual size. Both characters have their iconic details from the original Ghostbusters movie. Slimer has hot dogs from when he raided the cart during the second montage.

Peter has his Proton Pack and slime-covered uniform from his run-in with the hotel ghost.

Here we see the two Lego Peter Venkman figures: Dimensions minifigure and BrickHeadz figure. Obviously, the minifigure is half the size of the BrickHeadz.

Here we see the two Lego Slimer figures: Dimensions minifigure and BrickHeadz figure. You'll notice that the hot dog piece (without the bun) is the same in both builds.

If the BrickHeads look "familiar", it's because they're meant to be Lego's answer to Funko's Pop Vinyl figures. They both have a cute stylized look to them, only BrickHeadz also have that Lego aesthetic, too. The BrickHeadz are slightly smaller than the Funko Pops, which are approx. 4.25" tall. I don't have the Peter Funko Pop, so I put him next to the only Ghostbusters Pop I had handy: Jillian Holtzmann from the 2016 movie. I'd like to think he's flirting with her, only he doesn't know that he's not her type :-) Anyway, although it's not the same figure, this still gives a nice size and style comparison between the two figure lines.
The Lego BrickHeadz: Ghostbusters Peter Venkman & Slimer (41622) set retails for $19.99, which is equivalent to $10 per figure - the same as most Funko Pops. For some reason, the listing at Amazon currently has one overpriced Marketplace seller and nothing from Amazon itself. The Lego Shop has the correct price, but right now it's on backorder, though if you place an order now, they'll have it shipped out before the month is over. I'm sure in the next week or two, everything will be corrected and you'll be able to get it for the correct $20 price. Please be patient and wait. Do NOT pay the overpriced scalpers.
