Last month, I opened an
official Spook Central merchandise store on TeePublic. I just updated it with more stuff. Read on to find out more...
Since the TeePublic store I opened last month has not been the success that I hoped it would be - I guess people don't want t-shirts with the classic Spook Central logo on it - I thought that maybe if I added another design, people would be more interested. But what to add? I've had a
few different variations of Spook Central logos over the years, but none are in high-resolution, and if people don't want the classic, they won't want one of those. That's when I remembered that I do have one other piece of Spook Central imagery, and it might just be something that people would want.
Back in August 2012, I paid IDW to commission artist Tristan Jones to draw an
official Spook Central variant cover of Ghostbusters #9. That beautiful,
literally one-of-a-kind cover (embedded below) features an assemblage of Ghostbusters concepts that represents Spook Central and myself. Right at the top in green slimy letters is the original retro "Spook Central" title, with Slimer, of course. Underneath it says "Long Island, New York", where Spook Central has emanated from since August 1996...and myself MUCH longer than that. That lovely young goth girl on the left is the one and only Kylie Griffin, the first female to be a regular member of a Ghostbusters team...lest you think that that other Paul invented the "concept" of female Ghostbusters. She's joined by first season Real Ghostbusters Janine Melnitz, my other favorite Ghostbusters character. They're being pestered by other familiar ghost and ghouls that are explained in the previously-linked blog post from 2012.
Since I have the ONLY copy of this comic book, no one else gets to appreciate this awesome artwork but me. That's when I thought that maybe if people don't want
Spook Central logo merchandise, maybe they'll be more interested in some
Spook Central comic book cover merchandise.
It looks nice on a
t-shirt.
It looks even better on a
ruled spiral notebook - perfect for school in a few months.
And there are
many more options to choose from, as well as
other non-Spook Central Ghostbusters designs.
It seems like every time I do something in an attempt to make a little money, it fails. Whether that's putting stuff up for sale on eBay, using
Amazon Affiliates, or now
this TeePublic store. I bet if I were to start a Patreon, no one would donate to that, too, even though all of this helps to keep Spook Central running. So, it's my sincere hope that adding the Spook Central comic book cover will help get people interested. I mean, if some of you are willing to pony up $500 for a Terror Dog statue, you could spare $20 for a shirt.
[UPDATE - 6/22/2019]
The shirt arrived today. It looks beautiful. It was printed on a large AlStyle Ultimate white shirt. Below are some photos. The first two can be enlarged.
