Hasbro's Kenner Classics line continues with the
Kenner Classics: Fearsome Flush. Read on to find out more about it...
The Kenner Classics: Fearsome Flush (henceforth only referred to as the Fearsome Flush) brings back one of the Kenner line's most iconic original ghosts.
GHOSTBUSTERS KENNER CLASSICS THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS GHOSTS
(Ages 4 and Up / Approx. Retail Price: $14.99/ Available: April 2021)
It's a (proton) blast from the past with The Real Ghostbusters ghosts from Hasbro's Ghostbusters Kenner Classics line! Inspired by The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, the packaging features design and deco influenced by the toys from the 80s. Kids can imagine eerie encounters with The Real Ghostbusters ghosts toys as it showcases fun action features, including cyclops eye-popping action from Bug-Eye and rolling action to reveal a fearsome ghost inside from Fearsome Flush.
The Real Ghostbusters Bug-Eye and Fearsome Flush toys from Hasbro's Ghostbusters Kenner Classics line are perfect for those wanting to relive the glory days of Saturday morning cartoons and ghostly green juice boxes or those who want to introduce a new generation of fans to the Ghostbusters.
The retro nostalgia starts with the packaging, which replicates the
iconic look from the 1980s, but with a few modern-day accommodations. Hasbro has taken great care to make the new packaging look as close to the original as possible. I won't detail all of the changes, but the most notable is the removal of the "Who You Gonna Call?" song lyric from above The Real Ghostbusters logo. This allows Hasbro to avoid paying a royalty to Ray Parker Jr. (and Huey Lewis).

Both of the backs have the same instruction panel. The back of the original shows most of the toys that were produced up until that point. On the new back, only the three toys from this wave are shown.

Long before the poop emoji became popular and appeared all over the place on various merchandise, The Real Ghostbusters toyline had a toilet! And not just any old toilet, but a HAUNTED toilet!!! I'll let that sink in for a minute.
Peter, Ray, Egon, and Winston won't be pooping in this toilet anytime soon. For once they lift the lid, they'll be in for quite the surprise!
Yes, the baby blue toilet has the blood-shot red eyes with purple eyelids, dirty yellow teeth, and big red tongue that sent you back to wearing diapers as a 10-year-old child! There's a No Ghost logo embossed into the center of the lid. Functionality is really simple. Just roll him along - what, your toilet
doesn't have wheels?!? - and the face and mouth will repeatedly open and shut, creating the illusion of a hungry toilet ghost.
I don't have the original Kenner toy anymore, but
Ghostbusters News reports some differences. The red veins in the eyes are a little bit thicker in the new Hasbro model. On the underside of the lid is a purple area that, I believe, is meant to represent the roof of the mouth. Part of this area includes little purple dots, which are smaller on the new release. The bottom of the item is where you will find the biggest difference. The original featured an opened bottom in which the gears were exposed. Since that would be considered a safety hazard now, everything on the Hasbro toy is nicely enclosed. By making that change, the toilet bowl interior now has a "bottom"; whereas in the Kenner original, you could see though to what's underneath. There's also a piece at the bottom back used to stabilize the unit that's now a little bit bigger.
Kenner Classics: Fearsome Flush carries a MSRP of $14.99.
