Ghostbusters: Afterlife Delayed For a Fourth Time - To November 19, 2021

The running joke of the never-ending changing of the Ghostbusters: Afterlife release date continues. Originally slated for a July 10, 2020 release here in the United States, the film was pushed back to March 5, 2021... then June 11, 2021... then November 11, 2021... and now Variety and Deadline report a new release date of November 19, 2021. Thankfully, it's only a week later.

It does not look like there will be any further release date delays. Sony is doubling-down on a November 2021 theatrical release, even going so far as to get the main cast members to plea with fans to see the film in a theater.


On the postive side, the Deadline article states that "Ghostbusters: Afterlife will inherit the Imax and premium large format screens originally booked by Paramount for Top Gun: Maverick. (Paramount moved it's film slate to 2022, leaving an opening for Sony to fill.) I know nothing about IMAX, but that has to be a good thing.
