Pan Am: The Complete Series is a period drama about the pilots and flight attendants who once made Pan Am the most glamorous way to fly. Mill Creek just released the complete 2011-2012 television series on DVD. Is it any good? Read on to find out...

In Pan Am, the Jet Age just hit full swing and leading the way are Pan Am's elite stewardesses who can navigate any culture and overcome any challenge. From New York City to the edge of the world, they will discover romance, natural dangers and exotic intrigue in a lush recreation of 1963 that will take your breath away. After Laura (Margot Robbie) dumps her fiancé at the altar, she joins sister Kate (Kelli Garner) as a Pan Am stewardess, where they fly around the world with the feisty Maggie (Christina Ricci) and the French Collette (Karine Vanasse). Unbeknownst to all, Kate is secretly working as a spy after the mysterious disappearance of fellow stewardess Bridget (Annabelle Wallis). Their lives are intertwined with those of pilots Dean (Mike Vogel) and Ted (Michael Mosley) as the line between business and pleasure gets blurred.

If you like period dramas, such as Mad Men, you'll love Pan Am. In just a mere 14 episodes, the show manages to tell some incredible tales in the lives of the four lead female characters It's such as shame that audiences, apparently, didn't know what to make of it seven years ago. The ratings weren't as good as the premiere, thus leading to its cancellation. Without a doubt, Pan Am is one of the better shows that has aired on TV, and even puts some current shows to shame. It would have been nice if Sony could have given us a second season to wrap up some things.

When the series first aired from 2011-2012 on ABC, the only member of the cast I knew was Christina Ricci, who plays Maggie Ryan. I've had a crush on Christina since she was Wednesday Addams in the two early 1990s Addams Family theatrical movies. Two other actors from the cast have gone on to great fame. Margot Robbie, who plays Laura Cameron, is best known for her portrayal of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. David Harbour, who plays Roger Anderson in half of the episodes, is better known now as Chief Jim Hopper in Netflix's Stranger Things and for being the latest incarnation of Hellboy. Interestingly, he also appeared in Suicide Squad as Dexter Tolliver.

The episodes are presented in the original story order.

This review is about the Mill Creek 2-disc 2019 release. Sony previously released the series in 2013 as a 3-Disc set with some bonus features, but the episodes are out of order. This Mill Creek set corrects that.
