Assassin's Creed (2016) Blu-ray & DVD Easter Eggs
By Paul Rudoff on Nov. 23, 2020 at 3:00 PM in Home Video, Easter Eggs

There are many websites devoted to DVD Easter Eggs, though they don't seem to have been updated in quite some time. By the time the Blu-ray format came out in the mid-2000s, the studios mostly gave up on Easter Eggs, so there aren't many on Blu-ray, but there are some. Generally, these aren't listed on the Easter Egg sites, so I thought I would list the Blu-ray Easter Eggs that I find on the discs that I own. Today, I'll show you the eggs on Assassin's Creed (2016).
Assassin's Creed (2016) is a feature film adaptation of the popular video game series, starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and Jeremy Irons. The film was released in a Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack and a 4K + Blu-ray Combo Pack. Both the Blu-ray and DVD discs contain the same two Easter Eggs, found in the same manner, though the hidden logos are MUCH smaller on the Blu-ray. These Easter Eggs are NOT found on the 4K disc. (Screenshots by me, taken from the DVD because I have no way to screenshot Blu-ray menus.)
Animus Computer Screen #1
On the main menu, highlight "Play", press LEFT to reveal a small logo in the upper left corner of the screen, press ENTER.

This Animus computer screen provides a bunch of coordinates.

The Access The Animus Facebook page determined that these are the coordinates for locations where various games in the series took place; and possibly giving a hint as to the location of the next game in the series.
As you can see, those in the box in the right are latitude and longitude coordinates and, of course we did our best to look into them, so here is what we found:
42.3763 , -71.0607 – Bunker Hill Monument, Boston, USA
58.9414 , 5.6713 - Sverd i fjell, Norway
51.5007 , 0.1246 – Big Ben, London, England
29.2053 , 25.5435 - Temple of Amun, Siwa Oasis, Egypt
48.8530, 2.3499 – Notre Dame de Paris, Paris, France
35.7148, 139.7967 – Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo, Japan
41.9031, 12.4663 – Castel Sant’Angelo, Rome, Italy
35.0660, 36.3432 – Masyaf Castle, Syria
41.895, 12.474 - ???, Rome, Italy (possibly the entrance for the Temple of Pythagoras?)
41.0086, 28.9802 – Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Turkey
43.3901, 11.2234 – Monteriggioni, Italy
34.6748, 76.6824 - ???, Jammu and Kashmir, India (the location is very close to Amritsar)
As you can see, most of the coordinates correspond to the locations where the Assassin's Creed games (and some transmedia products) took place, while some others are new. Considering that all the others are locations that appeared in the games (and in transmedia), how likely do you think it is that Norway, Japan and especially Egypt will be the locations for the next Assassin's Creed game and media?
Animus Computer Screen #2
Go to Extras, highlight "Take the Pledge: Behind the Scenes of Assassin's Creed", press UP to reveal a small logo in the upper left corner of the screen (large logo in upper right corner on DVD), press ENTER.

This screen provides three Bit.ly-shortened website addresses.

These links resolve as such:
• https://bit.ly/2eXlb69 = http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/ac/movie/code/code2.jpg
• https://bit.ly/2guFXuu = http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/ac/movie/code/code3.mp3
• https://bit.ly/2fxeowh = http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/ac/movie/code/code1.jpg
Unfortunately, all of these files have been removed, even though this disc is only a mere three years old. It really would have been better to include these two images, and one audio file, on the disc itself linked to the hidden Animus computer screen. This is what happens when you DON'T put all of the content on the disc.
A little bit of searching online, and I found the images, thanks (again) to the Access The Animus Facebook page. The file "code2.jpg" was this picture of an eagle.
The file "code1.jpg" was this image of the three tenets of the Assassin's Creed: "Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent. Hide in plain sight. Never compromise the brotherhood."
I have no clue what the content of the audio file was.
That's all of the eggs that I can find on the disc. Sadly, they're all really useless for the movie viewer because there is no real content to be had by finding them.
