[ NOTES ]
Yes, this is the "proper" theatrical version of the film with guns as guns, not walkie-talkies. Two new special features have been added when compared to the 2017 4K UHD release. Also, unlike that release, the UHD disc contains everything that's also on the Blu-ray disc. This is, currently, the definitive home video release of the movie.
The 40th Anniversary Edition of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) is available on 4K UHD/Blu-ray and Blu-ray/DVD. There are also store-exclusive versions of the 4K UHD/Blu-ray Combo Pack: Amazon has a Lunchbox Gift Set, Walmart has a Bendyfigs Figurine Gift Set, and Target has Steelbook Packaging.
Inside the case is an advert for the new E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Ultimate Visual History Book from Insight Editions. If it's anything like the Ghostbusters Ultimate Visual History Book, it's well worth picking up. If you have little kids, they will probably like the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Classic Illustrated Storybook.
