[ NOTES ]
American Fiction is available on Blu-ray only. There is no 4K or DVD releases. This is a hard film to recommend, especially as a blind buy. The social satire plot is quite good, but it's bogged down by several family drama plots. Worst of all, the legendary Keith David is wasted as the living embodiment of a fictional character named Willy the Wonker, who only appears in one scene. Tracee Ellis Ross, despite receiving headline billing, is gone from the film after the first 20 minutes, and she was only in half of that. At least she got to say a few clever and funny bits of dialog before she left. Jeffrey Wright does a good job carrying the rest of the film. It's just a shame that he's stuck in the most boring, trope-filled family melodrama for most of it.
