[ SYNOPSIS ]

Ethan Edwards (John Wayne) is an ex-Confederate soldier seeking his niece, captured by Comanches who massacred his family. He won't surrender to hunger, thirst, the elements or loneliness. And in his five-year search, he encounters something unexpected: his own humanity.

• A Turning of the Earth: John Ford, John Wayne, and The Searchers (33:12) - A 1998 retrospective about the film development and production.
• The Searchers World Premiere in Chicago: Newsreel Coverage (0:44) - A black-and-white newsreel segment about the theatrical premiere with cast and crew appearances.
• Outtakes (11:42) - Raw 1.37:1 footage from the film's shoot,with some alternate unused takes. It's not totally clean visually, and there's no original sound, but it's paired with cues from Max Steiner's film score.
• Behind the Cameras - Four black-and-white promotional pieces, which includes "Meet Jeffrey Hunter" (3:57), "Meet Natalie Wood" (6:17), "Monument Valley" (5:57), and "Setting Up Productions" (6:06).

[ NOTES ]

The Searchers (19??) is available on 4K UHD + Blu-ray, Blu-ray (2024 Remastered) (same disc included with the 4K), and 2-Disc DVD. This marks the first 4K title in the Warner Archive collection, and what a great selection. A beautifully shot film with a powerful story and an absolutely classic Western. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
