From 2019 to 2022, I reviewed several of Neca's $9.99 & $39.99 themed blind bags. After getting many duplicate items, I stopped buying them. Well, today I saw a new for 2025 Neca $9.99 Blind Bag in my local Target, this one named "Best of Neca Blind Bags". It's the same size - 7.5"x11" - as all of the previous $9.99 blind bags, and it has all four logos on it: Sci-Fi and Horror, Pop Culture, Gamer, and Superhero. Proclaiming "over $25 worth of toys and collectibles", this blind bag carries a MSRP of $9.99. I highly doubt that it will be anything close to $25 in value, but enough time has passed since I last bought one of these Neca blind bags, so at least it shouldn't be stuff I already have. Was it worth it? Read on to find out...

If you haven't read any of my previous reviews of Neca's themed blind bags, here's the down and dirty lowdown on them: Each of them contains leftovers from Loot Crate mystery boxes from years past, usually without the original packaging. Sometimes the items are randomly placed in the bags, and sometimes there's a specific set of items in the bag. The $9.99 bags usually have four items in them, though sometimes you get five. The only $39.99 bag I bought had 7 items in it.

The $9.99 bag I bought yesterday had four items in it.

My Chemical Romance Batty Keychain - This item originally came in the My Chemical Romance Crate #4: Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys box from 2022. It's about 2-inches is diameter and is pretty solid. I know nothing about this band, so I have no clue what the significance of "Batty" is.


Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu Vomiting Cat Enamel Pin - This item originally came in a box from 2022. This 1.25"x1.25" pin is one from a set of four. I assume from the name Crunchyroll on the back that Junji Ito's Cat Diary is an anime series. I know nothing about this and have zero interest in it.


Yume: Super-Powered Yume Enamel Pin - This item originally came in a box from 2021. This 1.25"x1.25" pin features the Loot Crate Anime mascot Yume striking a pose. It's cute, so I'll keep it.


Marvel: Thor Action Figure Standee - This item originally came in a box from 2022. It's a miniature version of a carded Thor action figure, though the figure is not meant to be removed from the display. It is 5.5" tall, 4" wide, and 2" deep (from the back of the base to the front of the bubble). Of course, it is missing the outer box and plastic packaging, as to be expected when figural items are repackaged into these Neca blind bags. While I'm not a big Marvel fan, much less Thor, I like it, so I'll keep it.

I wasn't expecting much from this, and I still feel a bit disappointed. Pins and keychains are the cheapest items that could be included, and that's most of what's here. Certainly, this isn't worth $25. I don't even think it's worth $10. I'm not really interested in any of these items, though I'll try to find a place to display the Thor Action Figure standee and the anime girl pin is cute. The other two items will go to a friend, if she's interested, or I'll donate them. It cost me a total of $8.95 for this bag with tax, because I had a store coupon. This might be the last of these Neca blind bags I'll buy as I just don't think they're worth it, even at the slightly discounted price.
