1986 saw the premier of the new The Real Ghostbusters animated series by DIC Entertainment.  Looking to cash in on its rampant success, Columbia Pictures Inc. struck a deal with Caputo Publishing and in 1988, The Real Ghostbusters comic was released by NOW Media Group, then NOW Comics.  The comic ran until 1992, 2 years before NOW Comics folded and ceased publishing and at the time the cartoon ended its run.
